The Prevention Minute was established by a dedicated group of parents looking to gain a better understanding of their community’s rapidly evolving illicit drug and alcohol culture. Armed with a small grant from the Indiana Department of Education, these individuals set forth to design a platform that would provide local communities, like theirs, with reliable, up-to-date news and information.
It's no secret, our Country’s dealing with some serious substance abuse related issues, most notably Prescription Opioids and Heroin. Today, more people in the U.S. now die from opioid related overdoses than traffic accidents or homicides. As alarming as that is, prescription drug abuse is only one of more than a dozen drug and alcohol related issues plaguing our communities. From marijuana legalization, to the explosion of e-cigarettes and vaping, the need for accurate up-to-date news and information has never been greater.
